Dr Teresa Day BDS LDSRCS: Clinical Director
Dr Teresa graduated from Guys Dental Hospital in 1980.
Dr Teresa is a member of -
- The British Dental Association – BDA (1980)
- The Association of Dental Implantologists - ADI (1990) – one of the earliest members
- The International Team for Implantologists – ITI (2007)
- The British Periodontal Society (2004)
- The Faculty of General Dental Practice (2006)
- The Clinical Foundation of Orthopaedics and Orthodontics (1982)
- Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists - ICOI (1998)
- Founder member of the Functional Orthodontics Support Group –FOSG (2005)
Dr Teresa has been one of the UK’s leading cosmetic dentists for over 20 years and has a national and international reputation for creating beautiful smiles. As a nervous patient herself she insists that all her patients receive gentle treatment and in doing so has built a loyal following at both clinics.
Her particular areas of expertise are replacing teeth with dental implants, and straightening teeth without extractions. Dr Teresa also mentors young dentists and teaches dental nurses.
She is married with no children but has both cats and chickens. Her hobbies are dentistry, walking and skiing.

Mrs Yvonne Poole:

Yvonne makes sure we don't spend too much money! She is married with two adult children and one grandson and lives in Milton Keynes. She is Dr Teresa's sister.
She now works from a home office as IT now allows this to happen easily and meant we freed up space at both clinics to allow more room for your care.

Dr Neale Katz was born in South Africa and after graduating from university in Johannesburg came to live and work as a Dentist
in England in 1987. He purchased a dental practice in Chiswick, West London which he had for 15 years. Neale sold the practice in 2006 and joined the Appledore team.
Neale is constantly updating his education and has been on a year long implant course and advanced restorative courses in cosmetic dentistry.
He also has an interest in facial aesthetics and is qualified to administer Botox and filler materials to smooth those unwanted lines. Neale has 3 children.
Laura Green. Being dually qualified as Dental Hygienist and a Therapist, Laura is responsible for looking after our patient’s oral hygiene education, gingival health, maintenance and simple or complex scaling.
In addition she is also able to perform all types of fillings on both adults and children, with the exception of adult root treatments and crowns and bridgework.
Other responsibilities include:
- Extracting children’s teeth
- Placing preformed crowns on children’s teeth
- Applying fissure sealants
- Taking impressions
- Taking radiographs
- Administering local anaesthetics
- Administering topical fluoride applications
- Whitening
A bit about Laura…
Having qualified from Bristol University, she carried out an intensive training year in Llanelli South Wales as a Dental Hygiene Therapist before joining Appledore Dental Clinic, in January 2011.
Her particular interest is working with children. She enjoys making their experience as pleasant and as fun as possible, so that they continue to enjoy visiting the Dental Surgery.
In her spare time, she likes to keep fit by going to military fitness training and socialising with her friends and family. She loves being creative and using her sewing machine – ask her about her Sock Monkeys!!!! She also loves the outdoors and weekends away camping.

Amanda Bortwick our Hygienist, is keen to look after our patient’s health and wellbeing and believes making nervous patients feel relaxed, is key to delivering excellent dental treatment.
Graduating from The Eastman Dental Hospital with Merit and obtaining a distinction in oral health education, Amanda also achieved the Oral B Award 2009 for Academic Excellence. As you can imagine we are delighted to have such a high achiever as part of our team.
Amanda has had lots of experience working with other practices however, finds the holistic and relaxed atmosphere of Appledore highly satisfying.
Amanda has a bubbly outgoing personality and loves salsa dancing and running. With 2 boys aged 8 & 10, there’s not a lot of free time as she also takes responsibility for regularly walking of a neighbour’s dog or rather the dog walks her.
Steve Laws our Practice Manager. Steve has worked for the last 22 years as an Administrator and Manager in the British Armed Forces rising to the position of Regimental Administrative Warrant Officer and is well traveled during this time, having traveled to locations such as United States of America, Former Yugoslavia (Bosnia), Canada, Africa (Kenya), and Afghanistan plus many others. After a great career Steve decided that his future lay outside the military and resigned to pursue a management career with Appledore.
During his former career Steve has gained the following Higher National Diplomas:
- City and Guilds - Diploma Graduateship Award in Leadership and Management Level 6.
- Institute of Leadership and Management Diploma in Leadership and Management Level 5
- Institute of Administrative Management - Advanced Diploma in Management Practice Level 5
- Chartered Management Institute - Introductory Diploma in Management Level 4.
In his spare time Steve likes to read and relax, undertake personal development and on a sporting front enjoys keeping fit and playing Squash and Golf with his wife Sharna.
Steve has 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren.
Louise is usually the first smiley face you will see on entering Appledore Dental Clinic.
She will help book all your appointments and answer any questions you may have after you have left the dental surgeries.
Outside of Appledore, Louise also runs a busy household with two older daughters and her partner and she loves relaxing at Nirvana Spa.
Katherine Harvey - Nursing Team Leader has a crazy dog and loves spending time with her 2 nephews and enjoys socialising.
She passed her National dental nurses course 2001, Invisalign course 2005, Sedation course 2006, Radiography course 2006, and Microdermabrasion certification 2007.
We have also taken on another member Cherie to assist behind the scenes at Appledore with marketing campaigns and support. You may also see her on reception from time to time. She has a wealth of experience from the hospitality and customer focus environment and her cheerful nature and knowledge will certainly be a valued asset to our busy team.
Cherie has a little boy called Lewis who she dotes on. They enjoy getting out on their bikes together and doing arts and crafts.
Jenny and Emma have been training at Appledore as dental nurses since January 2010. They have just carried out their dental nursing exams and are awaiting their results!!!! They are highly valued members of the team as they assist both the Dentists and the Hygiene Therapists in surgery. You may also see them helping on reception or answering your phone calls.
We are all very much looking forward to congratulating Emma and Jenny on passing their exams in a few weeks time.
In her spare time Emma likes socialising with friends and going to Zumba classes to swing her hips!! She also
loves going to music gigs and Festivals in the summer.
When Jenny is not at the dental practice you will most probably find her at the gym working out or doing kick boxing classes. She also goes to Zumba with some of the other members of the team.

Heather is our newest dental nurse recruit and she is learning very fast. Like Emma and Jenny, Heather assists in surgery and on our reception desk. Heather has just started the part-time nursing college course which she is enjoying very much.
In her spare time she loves seeing her friends and playing on her X-Box! Also Heather is very good at painting and drawing while listening to music to relax after a long day. She is also sister to our other beauty therapist Hannah.

Hannah is the Beauty Therapist at Appledore - she qualified in 2007 after studying NVQ levels 1,2 and 3 at Reading College.
Hannah offers a full range of treatments such as full body massage, manicures and pedicures with OPI lacquer. Also the wonderful Gelish - an exciting technology that has immediate drying, so no annoying scuffs or smudges!
Remember to pick up a loyalty card which gives you free treatments.
Hannah is a very bubbly and friendly. She has a gorgeous Labradoodle puppy called Maisie, who she takes on long walks along the coast when she visits her holiday home in Weymouth. When she is not entertaining her puppy, she loves a good trip to the shops and seeing her friends and family.
Victoria Johns is the Beauty Podiatrist at Appledore.
Victoria graduated from Cardiff University in 1995 with a degree in Podiatry. Just as she obtained her degree she hopped on a plane and carried out three months of volunteer work in Zimbabwe with the Charity Raleigh International.
On return from Africa at the end of 1995, she set up her own business in Ebbwvale, South Wales, before leaving to join The Boots health care team in Cardiff in 2000.
She later joined the NHS to concentrate on surgery and biomechanics and is now perusing the aesthetics segment of her career, understanding the importance of its role in healthcare.
When not thinking about feet, Victoria's passions are running, motorbikes, cooking, snowboarding, climbing, hill walking and growing orchids.
She's a lovely lady who will sort out your feet in no time!
Abigail Fudge is Appledore's Osteopath. Abigail Fudge M.Ost Med DO ND graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine with a Masters degree in Osteopathic Medicine an a diploma in naturopathy.
Since graduating, Abigail has also completed a course in medical acupuncture and Module 1 of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field. She is registered with both the HPC (Health Professions Council) and The General Osteopathic Council.
